Ongoing Parklet Program Updates

The Ongoing Parklet Program Guidelines have been updated and will go into effect in January 2026.
The following updates were approved by City Council in September 2025:

  • Removal of COVID-era language that is no longer applicable

  • Deposits required for new parklets only

  • Implementation of late fees

  • Addition of guideline violation fees

  • Defined timeframes for reactivating vacant parklets

  • Updated encroachment permit requirements for parklet construction and removal

Parklet History

In 2022, the Healdsburg City Council approved the Ongoing Parklet Program (OPP) to enhance activity and vibrancy in the downtown area. The original program began in January 2023 with the intention of being re-evaluated in 2025.

In April 2025, City staff returned to Council to gather feedback on potential updates to the program. Council approved the continuation of the program with direction to staff to present updated Guidelines for approval.

In September 2025, the Council was presented with and approved the updated Ongoing Parklet Program Guidelines and Application

Apply for a Parklet Permit

To apply for an Ongoing Parklet Permit please read the Ongoing Parklet Permit Guidelines and fill out the Application. Applications can be submitted at City Hall or emailed to the Ongoing Parklet coordinator - Kelly Casey Kcasey@healdsburg.gov.
