2022 Di´a de Muertos Celebration Weekend

Join us Saturday, October 29,2022 at 5:00 p.m. for a free screening of Coco (2017) at the Healdsburg Community Center. Our friends from Rose's Burgers and Brats and Lola's will be providing free snacks! Come early at 5:00 pm to enjoy the food and performances by Ballet Folclórico YOLOTL and grab a spot with your family. Viewers can sit on blankets on the field or watch from their cars. Movie starts at 6:00 p.m. The film will be shown in Spanish with English subtitles. This event is sponsored by Corazón Healdsburg’s Board of Directors in partnership with City of Healdsburg Community Services.

E-Bike Share is Coming

The City applied for and received grant funding for a three-year electric bike share program. We selected Bird Rides to be the provider. We anticipate bikes will be available in the next couple of weeks.

Download the Bird App to access the bikes, and if you are a CARE customer you are eligible for a reduced rental rate. Every time you use an electric vehicle or walk or bike instead of using a gas-powered vehicle, you are doing your part to reduce Green House Gas emissions! The app will show you the nearest bike available for use. Bike stations are being proposed at these initial locations, which may expand based on ridership:

Front Street Sidewalk Gap Closure

In early October, the City completed 80-ft of missing sidewalk along the west side of Front Street just north of Healdsburg Avenue. The was made possible by $30,000 in grant funding and provides a much-needed piece of pedestrian infrastructure.

Sidewalk Cutting

Several years ago, the Public Works Department started a new program using a specialty contractor to inspect sections of the city for vertical offsets in our public walkways that could lead to possible trip hazards. Most of these offsets are then cut by that contractor using specialty equipment to eliminate the potential hazard. For a variety of reasons some locations cannot be cut and are added to a list of future sidewalk replacements to be completed by a concrete contractor. The City just completed one such project that poured new concrete at over 200 locations that could not be repaired by saw cutting. We are pleased to say that we have enough funding for the final portion of the city to be inspected and cut starting next week.

Unfortunately, tree roots keep growing so this does not mean this work will be finished, nor will it ever be. However, if we keep up with regular inspections, there will be fewer repairs needed each time and we can continue to improve pedestrian safety for our walking community.

Apply Now for Pathway to Income Equity

Now Accepting Applications! A coalition of local governments and community partners are coming together to launch a two-year pilot program that will provide $500 per month to 305 low-income families while studying the program's impacts on reducing poverty and promotes economic stability and mobility. Funding has been reserved for 50 families in the City of Healdsburg.

You must meet all eligibility requirements in order to be considered, including:

Pregnant and/or taking care of a child under the age of 6
Income below 185% of the federal poverty level
Affected by COVID-19 (income loss, housing instability)
Live in Sonoma County

Election Day is November 8, 2022

Election Day is November 8^th. The Sonoma County Register of Voters has mailed ballots and the County Information Guide out to residents. Both the County Voter Information Guide and State Voter Information Guide are now available online. Completed ballots may be mailed postage free or dropped in the Ballot Drop Box in front of City Hall at 401 Grove Street. You can visit the list of Official Ballot Drop Boxes and Vote Centers for additional locations to drop your ballot or vote in person on election day.

The City Council has placed two measures on the November 8^th Ballot. Measure L would amend the Transient Occupancy Tax Ordinance of the City to permit the use of transient occupancy tax revenues to finance, acquire and construct capital improvements for parks, community services facilities and affordable housing. Measure M would establish a tax on Commercial Cannabis activities.
