A flood watch has been issued for Sonoma County for this Friday and Saturday. Do you know the difference between a Flood Watch, Advisory, and a Warning? - Flood Watch: Be Prepared - Issued when conditions are favorable for a specific hazardous weather event to occur. It does not mean flooding will occur, but it is possible.
- Flood Advisory: Be Aware - Issued when a specific weather event that is forecast to occur may become a nuisance, but is not expected to be bad enough to issue a warning. It may cause significant inconvenience, and if caution is not exercised, could lead to situations that may threaten life and/or property.
- Flood Warning: Take Action - Issued when the hazardous weather event is imminent or already happening.
Out of an abundance of caution, the City of Healdsburg has opened a sand bag fill station at the Healdsburg Community Center (1557 Healdsburg Avenue). Sand and empty bags will be provided, however we recommended you bring: - A shovel to fill bags
- Gloves to protect your hands
- A helper to assist in filling
For questions or concerns regarding minor street flooding, please call our 24/7/365 Emergency Utility Hotline at (707) 431-7000. For emergencies that pose a threat to life and/or property, always dial 9-1-1. Our team will continue to monitor the situation, and will provide updates should the situation change. HELP US PREVENT LOCALIZED FLOODING: DON'T LEAVE YOUR LEAVES!

Did you know that per the City of Healdsburg's Municipal Code, leaves and other yard waste cannot be left in the street?
Our street sweepers are not equipped to pick up the volume of leaves often left in the street. If they're not removed, they clog the drainage inlets - and cause flooding.
Please help us prevent localized flooding - by ensuring your yard debris is placed in the proper compost (yard waste) container! Residents can also help out by removing leaves and other debris from the drainage inlets near their homes.

FROM DAMAGING YOUR PIPES

As you're cooking up the last of your holiday meals...don't forget that fats, oils, and grease damage both your pipes - and the environment!
Too often grease is washed into the plumbing system (usually through the kitchen sink) sticking to the insides of sewer pipes. Over time, grease can build up both on your property and in the public mains - and block the entire pipe. Blockages can result in an expensive and pretty unpleasant cleanup.
Here's some simple steps on how you can help: - Never pour grease down sinks or drains, or into toilets
- Scrape grease and food scraps into a can or the trash for disposal
- Put baskets or strainers in sink drains to catch food

Due to the weather, Reach For Home's Winter Shelter will continue to be open through Saturday, December 31 at St Paul's Episcopal Church of Healdsburg.
Dinner will be served from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. each evening.
Doors will shut each night at 9:00 p.m. and checkout is at 7:00 a.m.
