The Sonoma County Public Health Officer has amended the Parks Closure to allow limited public access to parks and opens spaces throughout Sonoma County – including Healdsburg – starting Thursday, April 29, 2020.
The amendment allows community members to walk, bike, or jog to a nearby park or open space from their homes. Healdsburg is fortunate to have parks that are easily accessible by walking or biking throughout the community.
What will be re-opened?
Please be patient: Our Healdsburg Community Services Department will be reopening parks throughout the day on Wednesday, April 29. We expect our parks to be reopened for use by the end of the day. Here’s what will be re-opened:
Neighborhood Parks: Badger, Barbieri, Community Center, Gibbs, Giorgi, Plaza and West Plaza, Railroad, and Sorrento parks.
Open Spaces: Healdsburg Ridge Open Space Preserve and Fitch Mountain Park and Open Space Preserve
Parking lots will be open for ADA access ONLY. So, if it’s too far to get to a park without driving, please don’t go to that park or open space. Following this is crucial for our parks and open spaces to remain open.
What’s still off limits?
“High-touch” equipment such as playgrounds, drinking fountains and areas that encourage gatherings, such as picnic areas, dog parks, and barbecue areas remain closed to public use. Restrooms, sports courts, skate parks and golf courses also remain closed to the public for now.
All park users need to assess if they have any COVID-19 symptoms, which include a dry cough, exhaustion, shortness of breath, and fever. Please go here for the list of COVID-19 symptoms that are known so far. If you feel unwell, please protect your fellow community members and stay home.
Loosening restrictions on public access to parks and open spaces allows residents to enjoy our outdoor spaces without resulting in the crowding and virus transmission risks that led to the parks being closed in the first place.
