HEALDSBURG FIRE TO CONDUCT MULTIPLE PRESCRIBED PILE BURNS
The Healdsburg Fire Department will be conducting multiple prescribed pile burns and chipping in the Ridge Open Space Preserve adjacent to the Parkland Farms neighborhood on March 1 and 2. The prescribed burns are part of the California Vegetation Treatment Program, and are being funded through the Coastal Conservancy Grant. The work will reduce the risk of wildfires in the area and promote the growth of native plants. During the prescribed pile burns, smoke will be visible throughout the day. The Healdsburg Fire Department advises residents to keep windows and doors closed if you live in close proximity to the treatment area. The department assures residents that they will be taking all necessary precautions to ensure the safety of nearby homes and will have fire crews on scene for the entirety of the project. "We are committed to keeping our community safe and reducing the risk of wildfires," said Lance Macdonald, Division Chief/Fire Marshal of the Healdsburg Fire Department. "These prescribed burns are an important part of our efforts to maintain a healthy ecosystem while also protecting our community." Residents with questions or concerns about the prescribed burns are encouraged to contact the Healdsburg Fire Department for more information at (707) 431-3360.
