Water Conservation Update

Water Conservation Graph
Healdsburg continues to meet the challenge of water conservation and is maintaining a 55% reduction in water usage.  This is incredible work and helps to preserve water stored in both Lake Mendocino and Lake Sonoma.  With regional water storage continuing to fall, conservation now and through the fall will be needed.  Please continue the good work!

Boil Water Notice Lifted

As the community is aware, much of Healdsburg was subject to a boil water advisory this week. The notice was put in place Wednesday following a major water main break and loss of system water pressure.  Under State regulations, if the City’s water system experiences a significant loss in pressure the City must issue a boil water notice for affected areas. Not all leaks result in a need to boil water and the advisory was not issued immediately after the break was identified because it was necessary to assess the impacts on the water system and consult with the State Division of Drinking Water to determine the appropriate response.

Earlier today the State Division of Drinking Water gave the City approval to lift the boil water notice.  Before lifting the notice, the City was required to collect two-rounds of water samples, testing each sample over a 24-hour period.  Once the results of those tests showed no indication of contamination, the boil water notice was lifted Friday morning.  We appreciate your patience and understanding over the past few days.

Badger Substation Reconstruction

Badger Substation Reconstruction

Work continued this week on the Badger Substation reconstruction project. This week the contractor completed testing related to new foundations and began de-construction of portions of the high-voltage bus work and supports.  Next will continue to install deep foundations and removal of obsolete equipment. Work will continue for several months but no interruptions in electric service are expected.

Healdsburg Avenue Improvements Almost Complete

Overnight paving operations will occur starting tonight, August 27th, through tomorrow night, August 28th from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Street repairs are being made to significantly increase the life of this pavement section of Healdsburg Avenue. We apologize for the extended construction duration and appreciate our community’s patience.

One southbound lane on Healdsburg Avenue between the 5-way roundabout and Exchange Avenue will be open but will have some delays during construction. All northbound traffic between Exchange Avenue and the 5-way roundabout will be detoured to Front Street. All lanes will reopen at 6AM each morning. Advanced warning signs will be placed on Highway 101. Truck traffic will be detoured to use the US101 and Dry Creek interchange.

The contractor has contacted all nearby businesses and residents individually to minimize impacts and to accommodate specific needs. All paving work is scheduled to be complete with all lanes open by 6:00am Sunday morning, August 29th.

Temporary road striping will be installed initially and permanent road striping will be installed during daylight hours the following week. Again, we appreciate your patience and look forward to getting traffic back to normal on Healdsburg Avenue.
